A cancer diagnosis affects every aspect of a person’s life. This includes the physical treatment of the disease but equally important is the emotional and spiritual needs of both patients and their families. In fact, we know that exposure to natural environments can positively improve both the patient experience and overall health outcomes.

The Garden of Hope has been a place of tremendous comfort and serenity – an escape, if you will – for cancer patients and their families and friends who love them and come to their treatments to support them.  Whether their experience is for a few hours, or a few moments, a garden speaks to them.  It speaks of renewal, life and hope.

The Garden of Hope in St. John’s was created in 1997 to provide a sanctuary of natural beauty for cancer patients and their families. Thanks to a $300,000 renovation in 2016, this revitalized space will continue to serve cancer patients and their families for many years to come.
